Lottery Funds Probe: Terry Pheto Denies Wrongdoing As Her Home Is Slated For Auction

Terry Pheto’s house may go up for auction in a bid by the National Lottery Commission to recover misappropriated lottery funds.

The actress is reported to have benefitted to the tune of 3 million from an over R20 million lottery grant given to a dodgy organisation. The R3 million was reportedly used to build her upscale, three-storey Bryanston home.

By court order, the property was attached and might be auctioned alongside other properties that the commission purchased with misappropriated funds. National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA’s) Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) had gone to court seeking to attach her property and those of other suspects.

In a twist to the whole story, the celebrated actress had taken to her verified Twitter account to debunk claims that she was involved in any wrongdoing or benefitted from any corrupt dealing. She noted that she is dismayed to be the subject of a Special Investigation Unit (SIU) probe.

She denied knowledge of the alleged lottery scheme by which she allegedly benefitted. Still, she insisted she would cooperate with the law while also thanking those supporting her through the current situation.
