On May 11, at close to 10 am, A-Reece took to the microblogging platform Twitter to announce to the world that he’s the best rapper in Africa. Given the weight his words carry as a celebrity, it was inevitable that many across South Africa should react to it.
Big Xhosa laughed it off, noting that A-Reece can’t be the best rapper on the continent while he, Big Xhosa, is still on the material plane.
Another rapper who spoke about the tweet is LucasRaps. Unlike Big Xhosa, though, he spoke via a song released on SoundCloud.
Titled “Best Rapper in Africa,” LucasRaps used the instrumental of Riky Rick’s 2017 single “Pick You Up,” which featured A-Reece.
Well, The Boy Doing Things might believe himself to be the best out there, but not everyone shares his verdict — let alone LucasRaps.
Calling himself the best rapper is a way of selling himself. Dismissing it is a way other rappers are marketing themselves—nothing novel about both actions.
It’s left to the public to decide whatever and stick to whatever. You can check out the song below.
The reactions so far indicate that fans actually love what LucasRaps has put together at short notice. Vibe to it all you can.
