Macklemore calls out Biden and backs US student protestors in new track

Macklemore drops new song supporting Palestinians and praising students across the United States protesting against Israel’s war in Gaza.

Macklemore is back to making music about the things he wants to attach his voice to. The star has released a new song in support of Palestinians. In it, he also praises students across the United States protesting against Israel’s war in Gaza.

According to a report by News24, for weeks, university students have been mobilising on campuses across the US over Israel’s war and its US backing.  Police has also been forcibly clearing protest camps and arresting over 2 000 people in the country.

Macklemore’s new song is titled “Hind’s Hall” and is named after the building at Columbia University that students recently occupied and renamed Hind Rajab, a six-year-old Palestinian girl killed in Gaza in the war with Israel.

In it, he raps,

“If students in tents posted on the lawn / Occupying the quad is really against the law / And a reason to call in the police and their squad / Where does genocide land in your definition, huh?”

“We see the lies in them, claiming it’s anti-Semitic to be anti-Zionist / I’ve seen Jewish brothers and sisters out there and riding in solidarity and screaming ‘Free Palestine’ with them.”

He also says in the song that Israel is “a state that’s gotta rely on an apartheid system to uphold an occupying violent history, been repeating for the last 75 years.”
