Makashule Gana Says “No Regrests” As He Exits The DA

This is not the best of times for the opposition Democratic Alliance as members continue to exit its ranks. The latest to leave is the party’s youth leader, Makashule Gana.

In a statement released following his departure, Gana had noted that he would be part of an emerging generation of leaders and activists committed to organizing to return power to the people. However, he gave no clues about which party he would join next but also clarified he isn’t joining Action SA.

He also made it known that he left the party with a sense of purpose, a calling, and no regrets whatsoever. His exit comes on the heels of another youth leader Mbali Ntuli’s departure from the party.

For those who might be thinking that Gana has plans to join the ruling African National Congress (ANC), the former DA youth leader has other thoughts. In fact, he believes that South Africa actually needs a new political alternative – a party that would be built from the ground up.

With such a vision, maybe it shouldn’t be surprising if he should team up with like-minds to establish a new political party. What’s unclear is if the new collective would be able to wrestle power from the ANC.
