Usually, working with a more established artist is a career boost of sorts to those who are not so established, whether locally or internationally. So it is usually the dream of many to work with more established voices both locally and internationally.
But as happens all too often, some people’s dreams are shattered as sometimes the more established voices are uninterested in working with them – and that’s despite the forts put in to collaborate with them.
It might be said that this is the reality of South African singer Makhadzi, who has been arching for a collaboration with Nigerian singer Davido and his Tanzanian counterpart Diamond Platnumz.
Both musicians are standout figures in their countries. Diamond Platnumz is easily the biggest name in Tanzanian music at the moment, and Davido is one of the most prominent singers from Nigeria.
On those counts, it shouldn’t be surprising that Makhadzi wants to work with both of them. But as she recently revealed, both of them appeared uninterested in working with her.
She made this known in an X post in which she pointed out that she has been sending direct messages to Davido and Diamond Platnumz about working together but has never gotten a reply from them.
Will she hit oil one day? Time will tell
