Makhadzi Ordered To Pay R8 Million Over Failed Sneaker Deal

Makhadzi is going through a rough patch right now, having been ordered to pay the sum of R8 million over a botched sneaker deal.

Not long ago, Makhadzi fans and indeed the whole of Mzansi were agog with the news that the much-loved singer would be launching her own sneaker brand. The songstress had revealed samples and noted that more was on the way.

For most, that was the last they heard about the sneakers from the “Kokovha” singer — well, until recently when news broke that she had been sued and asked to pay R8 million.

The songstress had been dragged to court alongside Open Mic Productions, the record label to which she’s signed, by Kicks Sportswear Company. The firm is claiming that since the singer signed the contract with them, leading to the production of the Kokovha sneakers, she had refused to promote them on her social media channels and to wear them to gigs, contrary to their agreement.

The plaintiff is claiming damages for unsold units of the sneakers, which amounts to over R8 million.

Although active on social media, including Instagram, Makhadzi had not addressed the situation on her Instagram at the time of writing.

It remains to be seen what the outcome will be.
