Makhadzi Teary Over SAMA Nomination Snub

Popular Venda artiste Makhadzi is disappointed the isn’t’ nominated for this year’s SAMAs (South Africa Music Awards).

She isn’t hiding her disappointment. In a recent tweet, she made it known that she submitted nomination forms but somehow didn’t get nominated. She wondered if she didn’t meet their requirements. Two crying emojis affirmed her disappointment.

In the comments to her tweets, her fans consoled her. Some told her not to worry because the SAMAs has lost its relevance. Others cited past times when deserving artistes had been overlooked for the SAMAs.

Makhadzi isn’t the only notable figure who has been snubbed by the SAMAs and who has complained publicly. Artistes like West Ink Boss Mampintsha and his girlfriend Babes Wodumo had been snubbed previously and spoken out about their snubbing by the award body.

Interestingly, last year, Makhadzi’s ex Master KG was snubbed by the SAMAs as well. The music producers “Jerusalema” song with Nomcebo Zikode was one of the best songs of 2020 but somehow failed to pull of a SAMA nomination. This outraged many in Mzansi.
