It is a common truth that death is inevitable; it is also a verity that no one wants to die young with the world ahead of him. But then, life happens and people find themselves in the dust of oblivion. Such was the fate of Malawian musician Thomas Chibade, who recently died at the age of 37.
The cause of his death could not be independently verified at the time of writing. However, multiple sources claimed that he succumbed to malaria in a hospital in the Malawian capital of Lilongwe.
The news of his death came as a big shock to many of his compatriots as well as fans back home and even internationally. At 37, as far as most of them were concerned, he was too young to die and still had a lot to accomplish not only in music but in life generally.
Chibade may no longer be on the earthly plane, but if he could still observe the world, he should be pleased in the knowledge that fans are returning to his music, playing them as a means of keeping memories of him alive.
By the way, Chibade imprinted his name in the consciousness of his countrymen in the early 2000s with the release of his “Zatukusira” album.
