Man In Court For Killing Police Graduate Wife Botshelo Phora

It is the wish of many not to die violently, but sometimes life takes tragic turns and those who witness it are left scratching their heads and wondering why things should turn out that way.

For police graduate Botshelo Phora, the case was especially tragic because she was killed by no other than her husband. When the case was heard at the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court, Thuso Phora claimed that he was the one who was repeatedly abused by his wife, And in the instance that led to her death, he alleged that bludgeoned Botshelo Phora on the head and eventually strangled her.

A small gasp escaped the courtroom. It unfortunately wouldn’t bring back the dead.

Speaking through his counsel, advocate VE Viviers, he noted that he was going through a phase of depression and was receiving a psychological intervention to help him cope with conditions at the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre, where he is being detained.

He also claimed that the altercation that resulted in him strangling his wife stemmed from her refusal to request a transfer from work to come home to take care of their child. He also requested bail, as failure to be released might jeopardise his employment with the Department of Correctional Services.
