Man Injured In Gas Cylinder Explosion In Kempton Park

A man was injured in a gas cylinder explosion in Kempton Park.

Emergency services have announced that a man was injured after a gas cylinder exploded at a factory in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni. According to EMS spokesperson William Ntladi, the 48kg cylinder exploded at around 10:55 at the factory in Chloorkop.

“We had one casualty who sustained minor injuries to his left leg, and he was taken to hospital.” He shared that the cause of the explosion is yet to be determined.

There have also been two reports of explosions in Gauteng, which resulted in death. News24 reported that on Thursday afternoon, a suspected illegal mining explosion in Bram Fischerville resulted in a man dying and two others getting injured.

City of Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo said the cause of the explosion was a dynamite connected to a vehicle battery. The victim was identified as Reason Dube by a family on the scene.
