Popular Mzansi comedian breaks down and cries at his late friend DJ Mashata’s tribute concert.
Mzansi is still trying to make sense of DJ Mashata’s passing. The MC, comedian, and DJ passed away on Sunday, 21 April morning near Soshanguve, TUT (Tshwane University of Technology) campus after being shot at multiple times.
On Thursday, his friend Limpopo comedian, Mashabela Galane and many more industry colleagues honoured him with a tribute concert held at Emperors Palace. Mashabela revealed on the X app on Wednesday that Mashata’s tribute venue was changed to a bigger venue to accommodate more people.
The proceeds from the tribute concert is expected to go to his family. A memorial service for the late DJ was held at the Tshwane University of Technology’s Pretoria West Campus from 14:00 on the same day.
A video of Mashabela taken at the tribute has broken many hearts in the country. The video was shared by @_BlackZA who captioned it “Mashabela breaking down yesterday at his best friends tribute event Mashata”.
@KhumaloFk reacted, “I hope he’s safe because people don’t just get ambushed like that for fun. But deep stuff which I hope the guy is not involved in.”
