The Piano Kings DJ and Kabza De Small have been nominated for the 2020 MTV EMAs. An excited DJ Maphorisa announced the nomination to his million followers on Twitter, urging them to vote for their “boys” (himself and his partner Kabza De Small).
DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small are nominated in the Best African Act category alongside Burna Boy and Rema (Nigeria), Master KG (South Africa), Sheebah (Uganda), and Gaz Mawete (Congo).
It’s a first for DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small and they are both excited about their nomination. The two have become almost inseparable as collaborators, so it isn’t surprising they should be nominated together. They are among the strongest voices in amapiano music right now.
The other South African nominee, Master KG, has been at the tops of the trends back home, following the massive success of his “Jerusalema” song which featured Nomcebo. The song has grossed over 100 million views. Cassper Nyovest has predicted it might hit over a billion views soon.
