Meddy Clinches The Headies Nomination Alongside Diamond Platnumz, Others

It’s that time of the year again when musicians across Africa look forward with fevered expectancy to the Headies, one of the continent’s major awards. One of those looking forward is the Rwandese singer Meddy.

The songster has been nominated in the category of Best East African Artiste of the Year alongside East Africa’s music giants Eddy Kenzo (Uganda), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), and Harmonize (Tanzania).

The Headies, which started as far back as 2006, is given in 39 categories, including Next Rated, Best Street Hip hop Artiste, Lyricist on the Roll, Producer of the Year, Album of the Year, Hip hop album, R&B album, Best East African Artiste of the Year, and Song of the Year.

In the years since its launch, the award has recognised both established and upcoming talents. And it remains relevant to this day. However, some musicians who have made great strides in their careers, and gone international, don’t take the award too seriously.

At the time of writing, Meddy has not posted about his nomination on his Instagram page. However, his fans babe been celebrating the milestone elsewhere.

Will Meddy win, given that he appears to have been nominated in a category of more popular musicians? Time will tell.
