Meet Kabelo Gwamanda, New Mayor Of Johannesburg

The wait is over for Johannesburg as the city gets a new mayor. Meet Kabelo Gwamanda, who has just been elected to the post and who ascribes his victory to the will of God.

With his election reportedly supported by the ANC, PA, EFF and other smaller political parties, Gwamanda, who was an Al Jama-ah councillor until his election, has a point, perhaps.

The new mayor appears to know what lies ahead of him and his responsibility as the provincial head. This much was reflected in his acceptance speech in which he quoted the scriptures.

He also indicated his plans to work with a sense of duty and responsibility – doing his absolute best in the new position of prestige and power that he occupies. Of course, he can’t go it all alone without the provincial legislature.

For those who might be wondering about the state of service delivery in the city following his election, the new mayor also made it clear that his coming will not affect that at all.

All eyes are currently on him to see how he lives up to expectations and if he would keep to the pledge he made during his acceptance speech. The city of Johannesburg is watching and so is Mzansi as a whole.
