Meghan Markle Triumphs In Half-Sister’s Defamation Suit Against Her

A royal drama. That’s what came to mind when thinking of the recent conflict between the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and her estranged half-sister.

Samantha Markle had taken Meghan to court over comments she made in an explosive Netflix documentary, as well as an interview she granted media personality Oprah Winfrey in 2021.

The suit against Markle was of great public interest, and rightly so, with social media divided about the possible outcome. Before the verdict, some netizens amplified their support for the Duchess and some for Samantha.

For Markle, though, it is a breath of fresh air, having gotten a favourable verdict. Ruling on the suit, Judge Charlene Edwards pointed out that Meghan did not plausibly defame Samantha, pointing out that what the Duchess said were opinions, some substantially true.

In the said interview with Winfrey, Meghan pointed out that Samantha had changed her surname to Markle when the Duchess started dating the Duke of Sussex. Samantha found the claim defamatory, which prompted her to take legal action against her half-sister.

Meghan Markle was an actress who surg3d into the consciousness of millions around the world when she started dating Prince Harry. The two shocked the world when they decided to ditch their titles and the Royal Family.
