Miss SA, Lalela Mswane, Named Among The Top 3 At Miss Universe 2021

It’s a great moment for South African beauty queen Miss SA, Lalela Mswane as she has just been named among the top three for this year’s Miss Universe beauty contest that was held in Israel.

She didn’t win the first position, which went to Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu of India, nor did she clinch first runner-up, which went to Miss Paraguay. But Lalela is still chuffed with how far she came.

And South Africans are just as chuffed. She could have lost en before she started if she had bowed to pressure not to attend the show, which was held in Israel.

Some pressure groups had circulated false news in the press claiming that she had withdrawn from the show in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Others tried to pressure her to withdraw outright. But Lalela Mswane had her eyes on the crown.

The beauty body, through its official Instagram channel, announced Lalela Mswane and others as the top three on the show.

If Lalela had won, she would have been the second South African to have been crowned Miss universe, after Zozibini Tunzi.

By the way, before contesting for Miss Universe, Lalela Mswane had been crowned Miss South Africa earlier this year.
