Miss World Winner Sparks Outrage

The winner of Miss World 2024 has sparked outrage as viewers accused the organisers of the event of racism.

You would expect that the world would be celebrating the new Miss World winner, Krystyna Pysková of the Czech Republic, but no. Fans of the event believe that their favourite Miss Botswana Lesego Chomo was robbed at the 71st edition of the international pageant.

The event took place at the Jio International Convention Center in India on Saturday, 9 March. South Africa’s Claude Mashego made it to the top 40 of the pageant, and Mzansi expressed how proud of her they were. Czech Republic’s Krystyna Pysková was crowned Miss World’s new queen, while Miss Botswana made it to the top 4 alongside Miss Trinidad and Tobago and Miss Lebanon (first runner-up).

Viewers of the show were disappointed that Miss Botswana was not crowned winner. Some also noted that Miss Czech Republic, who emerged as the winner, bore a striking resemblance to her predecessor, Karolina Bielawska of Poland. Both have Blonde hair and blue eyes.

They accused the show’s organisers of racism and discrimination. One user called the winner “Another Barbie girl,” while another wrote, “This was daylight robbery. Miss Czech Republic could be last year’s blonde and blue-eyed winner’s twin. But even she knows deep down the crown should’ve gone to Botswana.”
