A while back, we reported that Thamsanqa Gabuza’s criminal case had been postponed. Well, that was about it. The case was postponed but it is not yet uhuru for the embattled Gabuza for whom an arrest warrant has just been issued.
The former Orlando Pirates star was to have appeared before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Monday (yesterday). But he failed to show up and an arrest warrant was issued against him.
The genesis of his current travails dates back to last year,m when he reportedly visited his girlfriend and asked her for sexual favours. She declined, which provoked him. In the heat of the moment, he allegedly smashed her phones and also slightly damaged her home.
A case was instituted against him, which has dragged on to this day. Reportedly, there was to have been mediation on Monday. But since the footballer failed to appear. There was no mediation and a warrant of arrest was issued against him.
Interstingly, his lawyer was asked about Gabuzo’s absence from court but he was noncommital in his responses.
At this point, it will be interesting to see if he would be arrested and what angle the case will take after that. Stay tuned.
