Mthandeni Shuns Durban Maskandi Gigs After Claiming His Life Is In Danger

Mthandeni Manqele a.k.a Igcokama Elisha has announced plans to boycott Durban Maskandi gigs following claims that his life is in danger.

Mthandeni Manqele has announced that he will no longer be accepting Durban Maskandi gigs. According to him, he always gets threats everytime he performs there. Therefore, he is choosing to uphold the safety of his fans and family by shunning those gigs. He wrote on Facebook,

“Why do you Durban promoters continuously put my name in your posters, knowing very well that you guys are selling me out? Don’t you think what you are doing to my fans, my children, and my family is hurting them? Every year you guys abuse me, have y’all not had enough?”

The Maskandi star was previously involved in an on-stage scuffle with radio presenter Zimdollar. The Ukhozi FM presenter was the MC at the Mother of All Maskandi Music Festival where it happened. MDN News reported,

“Ukhozi FM presenter, ‘Zimdollar’ Biyela grabbing microphone from Mthandeni Manqele at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban last night. According to Zimdollar, Manqele was supposed to perform at 7pm and he came in late and started to perform without permission.”

Mthandeni later apologised to his fans and those directly affected by it, saying,

“I am a bubbly person who is always happy and makes other people laugh. But when provoked, I can get very angry. I would like to apologise on behalf of Zimdollar to the Red Nations, Maskandi music fans, the sponsors and Mzansi. Zimdollar does not hate me, and neither do I hate her.”
