Mzansi Celebrates Dr. Rebecca Malope As Queen Of Mzansi Traditional Gospel

Her birthday is not this week or the coming week, or even the previous week, but South Africa is happy to be celebrating Dr Rebecca Malope as the queen of traditional gospel music in the Rainbow Nation.

This much was obvious in a dense Twitter thread celebrating the iconic songstress. The celebration will not surprise anyone who has followed her career trajectory, however.

Born in 1968, Dr Rebecca Malope, whose real name is Batsogile Lovederia Malope, has been in the music industry for three decades and has won many over with her soulful voice.

She may not be as active as she was in her younger years, but her legacy is enormous, and Twitter users have been celebrating it.

Commenting on her impact in the industry, one Twitter user highlighted the fact that she has 36 albums to her name and has sold over 10 million copies of her works. The user described her as a living legend.

Another user highlighted similar stats, noting that the singer has remained relevant 30 years after.

And yet another user, who had no idea why the singer was trending, confessed he thought she had passed away.

Well, Dr Rebecca Malope is alive. Hopefully the music continues into her old age.
