Canadian rapper Drake has certainly gotten his eyes on South Africa’s music scene and the emerging voices from that orbit. This much became obvious, once again, when he followed the buzzing singer Tyla.
His following the songstress didn’t fo unnoticed by South Africans, who almost immediately began adducing reasons for his following on the platform.
Of course, Drake following a less famous musician is pretty symbolic and also gives some boost to the career of the person followed, especially of they are from an African country and resident there. Previously, he had followed Uncle Waffles on Instagram and showed up on her Live a couple of times.
With him extending the same gesture to Tyla – following her on )nstagram so to speak – South Africans are saying he’s “chowing” their huns.

Perhaps the recent follow shouldn’t be surprising see as Tyla is the buzzing South African singer of the moment – ahead of most of her compatriots, and with impressive streaming Spotify stats.
Anyway, Tyhla should be more than chuffed at this moment and one of the top voices in global rap is currently following her. But the, the “Water” hitmaker has earned her stripes. It remains to be seen what the future holds for her career.
