Mzansi Reacts to Beyoncé’s Mum Tina Knowles’s Divorce From Richard Lawson After 8 Years

Marriage means a lot of things to a lot of people. To some, even those who have not experienced marriage before, but using the experiences of others to form an opinion, marriage is nothing more than a scam.

“Scam” is what some South Africans have in mind right now following the revelation that Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles is divorcing her second husband, Richard Lawson. The two got married in 2015 and have been together since, until the recent report that they are going their separate ways.

Multiple reports indicate that Tina was the one who filed for divorce after eight years of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for wanting out of the marriage.

The divorce news reverberated across the entertainment industry given the influence of Tina’s daughter Beyoncé and Tina herself.

At the time of writing, Richard had not spoken about the divorce, Even Beyoncé herself has been mute and so has her husband, Jay-Z.

Over in South Africa, where Beyoncé has many fans, however, opinions have been pretty fierce, with peeps claiming that Tina’s failed marriage to Richard is just another example that marriage is a scam. But is it?

It remains to be seen how the divorce case will unravel.
