Naledi Pandor Under Fire For Supporting Cuba With Loans

South Africa’s Minister of international relations and cooperation Naledi Pandor is under fire from citizens over the use of government resources.

Many South Africans are miffed that in the years since President Cyril Ramaphosa came to power, the Rainbow Nation had lent R147,631,000 to Cuba. The minister herself had revealed the sum lent in writing when DA leader John Steenhuisen wrote to her seeking answers.

The answer she came up with scandalised many South Africans, and they wondered how a supposedly poor country would be lending money to Cuba, which, to them, appears wealthy.

Some even used the opportunity to rail at fellow blacks, letting them k ow that their problem isn’t the white people around them but the “airheads” they have as rulers.

To those criticising her Cuba moves, the minister readily points back in time, letting her critics know that Mzansi wouldn’t abandon a friend in need. She points to the apartheid era when Cuba was arming and supporting the ANC while the United States and her Western allies labelled the collective terrorists. You can check out some of the comments below.

By the way, Naledi Pandor is but one of several ministers who are currently under fire. The others are Bheki Cele and Nathi Mthethwa.
