Legendary model and fashion icon, Naomi Campbell has blasted The Grammys for cheating Nigerian Afrobeats star, Wizkid and shared “Essence” and “Made In Lagos” achievements in the US.
You may have noticed how much social media has been flooded with reactions to the recently held Grammy Awards. Just like it happened with Burna Boy in 2020, The Grammys are accused of cheating yet another artist, Wizkid, of his obvious win.
Last year, Wizkid dominated the Billboard charts with the hit song “Essence” featuring Tems & Justin Bieber. The song hit No. 9 on the Hot 100 and topped various charts. It is certified double platinum. It was nominated in the “Best Global Performance” category but lost out. Wizkid’s record-breaking album, “Made In Lagos,” also did not win the “Best Global Music Album.”
In a post shared on her Instagram, Fashion icon, Naomi Campbell blasted the Grammys for cheating Wiz of his wins. She shared a list of his achievements in the US and urged the Recording Academy to do right by Afrobeats.
