Nasty C Detail His Steve Biko Track, Speaks SA Hip Hop & More In Video Interview (Watch)

Ever wondered why Nasty C named a song “Steve Biko” although the song does not reference the late anti-apartheid activist? Well, now you have an answer.

The “Zulu Man With Some Power” disclosed why he named the song after that late activist in a recent sit-down with Slikour. According to the songster the title was just for title’s sake and the song actually has nothing to do with Steve Biko.

There was a latent motive in the naming. According to Nasty C, he wanted people unfamiliar with Steve Biko to find out more about him by googling his name. In part, apparently, he achieved this goal.

He was severely criticized at the outset, however. Fans had thought the title a misnomer because the song had nothing to do with the person for whom it was named.

By the way, at the time he named the song, members of his team had been curious about the title, with some of them suggesting that he change the title of the song. But he refused to, with explanations.

Besides the Steve Biko track, Nasty C also spoke about South African hip hop generally, the music industry and much more. You can watch the video interview below.
