Ngizwe Mchunu Accuses DJ Tira of Neglecting Mampintsha’s Legacy, Sparking Controversy
The Complaint
Ngizwe Mchunu, a former presenter for Ukhozi FM, recently made news when he publicly criticized DJ Tira, a producer and DJ from Durban, on social media. Mchunu accused Tira of breaking his vow to honor the memory of their common friend and associate, the late Mampintsha.
The Legacy of Mampintsha
Mampintsha, a member of the well-known duo Big Nuz, died in December and left a sizable musical legacy. Big Nuz was nominated for Song of the Year, Best Duo or Group, and Best Kwaito/Gqom Song at the 17th Metro FM Awards. Babes Wodumo, the surviving wife f Mampintsha, had urged supporters to support Big Nuz in memory of Mampintsha.
Mchunu’s Tirade
Mchunu attacked DJ Tira on social media, accusing him of not keeping his promises during Mampintsha’s burial. “At Mampintsha’s burial, you were going to fulfill your pledge to him… However, since you are a dog, you do not, according to Mchunu. Additionally, he asserted that DJ Tira’s suspected drug use prevented him from keeping his commitments.
DJ Tira’s Reaction
DJ Tira, popularly known as “Makhoya Bearings,” has not yet provided a thorough denial of Mchunu’s allegations. I don’t know what to say, honestly,” the DJ and producer said after making a quick comment.
The Debate Is Still Active
Mchunu has experience with controversies. The former radio DJ was previously detained in 2021 on suspicion of breaking the Disaster Management Act and reportedly encouraging violence related to unrest. He has made public criticisms of Eskom and President Cyril Ramaphosa for the country’s chronic load-shedding problems.
The South African entertainment industry has seen more controversy due to Ngizwe Mchunu’s public outburst directed against DJ Tira. Fans, other musicians, and the media eagerly anticipate the parties’ next statements as the discussion unfolds.
