In South Africa, many people owe their rise and continued musical relevance to amapiano music. And some of them are bold in admitting the role the genre played in changing their lives for good. One such person is the amamiano singer Nkosazana Daughter.
The songstress made this known during a recent sit-down with TshishaLive. She traced back her musical evolution, recalling the time she worked with music producer Prince Kaybee and the gqom duo Distructiuon Boyz.
The turning point for her was when the late Mpura introduced her to amapiano producer DJ Maphorisa. He credited Mpura with having remarkable kindness of spirit. In the industry, she noted that people just want to shine by Themselves but Moura made sure she was noticed. She described Mpura as amazing.
Sadly, Mpura died in a car accident while heading to a gig years ago. Five other persons also perished in the fatal accident. He may have died, but as Nkosazana’ Daughter made clear in her interview, his legacy is still very much alive and many are thankful for the impact he made before his exit.
Nkosazana Daughter herself is now a famous voice in South African music and is high in demand as a featured artist.
