No-Show: Fuming Show Organizers Want Refund Of R100k From Busta 929

Will the controversies surrounding South African musician Busta 929 ever end? We may never know. The songster is being asked to pay back R100k after failing to perform at a show for which he was paid.

According to reports, he was paid R100k to perform at the Munch and Sip event in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on December 31, 2023. He failed to show up, claiming he missed his flight.

However, organisers implied that he was lying about that as he checked in. Now the organisers want a refund of the money allegedly paid to him for the performance.

Interestingly, the musician himself was not the first choice of the organisers. He was picked as a substitute for the musical duo Mellow & Sleazy. But he ultimately failed to show up for the performance.

Organisers are seething over the issue, but it is currently unclear how the case would be handled and if things will end up in court – as we have seen in a couple of instances already.

Busta 929 is but one of several artists who have been accused of collecting money from show organizers but failing to perform. The others include Banes Wodumo, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, as well as the dancer Zodwa Wabantu.
