Nomcebo’s first visit to the United States turned out an eventful one for her, as she was honored by God’s Own Country.
The Jerusalema” singer is currently on a tour of Europe. She had already performed in Switzerland and Spain before heading over to the United States. In the States, she was honored by the city of Florida, whose commissioner Wardson declared her a distinguished visitor and presented her with the keys to the city.
In a post to Instagram, a delighted Nomcebo had shared the moment, expressing gratitude for the way she was received by the city. It means a lot for a “small girl” from KwaZulu-Natal.
Nomcebo is one of the buzzing names in South African music right now, thanks to the massive success of her “Jeusalema” song with Master KG. Interestingly, and to the dismay of some music watchers, the song’s success had also led to a crack in her relationship with Master KG over the sharing of royalty for the song.
Nomcebo was said to have requested 70 percent of royalties, which Master KG insisted was contrary to what they initially agreed (50/50).
Anyway, it is clear both Nomcebo and Master KG are doing great, their initial misunderstanding notwithstanding. Viva “Jerusalema!”
