Many in South Africa consider her a sultry sex figure, and Zodwa Wabantu has no qualms encouraging the same narrative. She’s pushed the narrative farther by joining etv’s adult-only telenovelas, The Black Door.
Acting is one adventure the controversial dancer has always wanted to take, and it wouldn’t even be her first foray into the field. She’d done auditions before and even shared her dream of working with Ferguson Films.
Anyway, she’s on The Black Door now, and she couldn’t be happier. In a post on Instagram yesterday, Wednesday, she had informed her fans about joining the series and clued them in on when to tune in.
The Black Door details the lives of prostitutes and what it entails to be one of them.
Zodwa Wa Bantu will be playing herself. She said she’s happy to not only take up the role but to articulate it as well. She feels there are many issues out there, from drugs to prostitution, that people speak of perfunctorily from the comfort of their homes without taking out time to address.
When producers offered her the role to play herself, they thought she would be scared or shy. But Zodwa is taking things as they come – boldly through every step.
