She might be one of the famous faces in South African film as we speak, but Connie Ferguson is not immune to criticism. Now and again, some people question her acting skills and some imagine that her talents are blown out of proportion.
This reality about her manifested again recently. It followed the release of an old clip of her in her younger years on the set of the soapies “Generations.” Some of those who saw the clip questioned her acting skills and some couldn’t imagine how she had come this far with such “mediocre” acting. It is unlikely that Connie is aware of the current conversation about her acting. Even if she were, it is unlikely she would even respond to it. For good or bad, people will always talk, after all.
The actress is one of the most respected figures in South African film at the moment and calls the shots at Ferguson Films, which she used to run with her actor husband Shona until his tragic demise years ago from coronavirus-related complications.
She has been pushing ahead solo ever since, but not everyone is impressed with her acting. That’s life for you.
