Oprah Winfrey’s Father, Vernon Winfrey, Dead At 89

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey has lost her father, Vernon Winfrey, to cancer. He was 89.

Taking to Instagram soon after his death, Oprah had announced the tragedy to the world. According to her, she was right there by the bed along with other family members when her father took his last breath. Peace enveloped the room at bis passing, she further noted.

He might be gone now, but the peace persists, according to her. “All is well,” he added, thanking those who had [rayed for the family while their father was battling cancer.

Days earlier, the family had held what was dubbed a “Vernon Winfrey Appreciation Celebration” at the Patriarch’s residence with gospel singer Wintley Phipps performing. Recalling that moment, Oprah noted that her father felt the love and was speechless as a result.

Born in Greenville, Mississippi, in 1933, Vernon was a veteran of the Korean. According to reports, he spent just a night with Oprah’s mother, Vernita, and she conceived and bore Oprah. The media personality would spend her early childhood in her father’s home state of Mississippi.

Much later, Oprah would attribute her success in life to the influence of her father. Burial arrangements will be announced shortly, according to sources.
