Oscar Pistorious Yet To Meet the Steenkamps 9 Years After Killing Reeva

Nine years after he killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, former Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorious is yet to meet her parents.

The victim-offender dialogue was to have happened since, but according to the department of corrections, it is not as simple as it seems. According to the depart, the convict remained at an Eastern Cape facility.

It was Valentine’s Day yesterday and somehow, South Africans were talking about the Paralympian and how he violently murdered his girlfriend on the same day several years ago.

At the time of her death, Reeva was dating Pistorious and had stayed at his apartment overnight. He was said to have shot her in the early hours of Valentine’s Day through a locked bathroom.

He claimed to have acted in the mistaken belief that the person in the bathroom was an intruder, but the prosecution shot down the claim, insisting that he shot her after a violent argument during which she had fled into the bathroom with her phone.

He was initially convicted of culpable homicide. But the Supreme Court overturned that verdict and convicted him for murder with a sentence of 13 years behind bars. Until her death, Reeva was the only child of the Steenkamps.
