Oscar Pistorius Pushes For A Parole Hearing

Years ago, he was founded guilty of murdering his girlfriend and sentenced to prison for his crime. Now Oscar Pistorius believes he has served enough time behind bars and is pushing for a parole hearing to get him out of jail.

The paralympic champ was slammed with a 13-year jail term for murdering his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day in 2013. He initially denied killing her, claiming he thought there had been a burglary and a burglar was hiding in the bathroom.

So he fired four shots through the bathroom door. The prosecution faulted his claim of a possible burglary, noting that he heard Reeva Steenkamp screaming from the bathroom but continued shooting, eventually killing her.

The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 13 years in jail in 2014.

According to some legal authorities, he has served enough time in jail to be considered for parole. His lawyer, Julian Knight, noted his client is seeking an order to force the authorities to have a parole hearing. He clarified that the order doesn’t mean the athlete should be placed on parole but considered for one.

It remains to be seen if the court will eventually grant the application. Stay tuned,
