Phala Phala: Video Shows The Heist At Cyril Ramaphosa’s Farm

More details have emerged on how millions stashed in the Phala Phala farm of South Africa’s current president Cyril Ramaphosa were stolen by some Namibians in collaboration with domestic staff and how the president tried to recover the money without reporting it to the police authorities.

It’s unclear exactly how much was stolen from the farm, but some sources point to $4 million to $8 million.

Trouble had started after former police chief Arthur Fraser claimed in a case he opened against the president that there was a robbery at the president’s Phala Phala farm and that a large sum was stolen.

He also claimed that the president bribed those involved to keep quiet about the heist because keeping such a vast sum of money at home is illegal. He provided video footage, bank details and other photographs to prove his claims. He accused the president of money laundering and other crimes, which are being investigated.

To retrieve the funds stolen from the farm, Ramaphosa had reportedly engaged Major-General Wally Rhoode, who engaged a local farmer to trace and arrest the criminals and recover the money stolen.

Vincent Magwenya, a spokesperson for the president, confirmed there was indeed a robbery at the farm but without giving details.
