Phala Phala Farm Scandal: President Cyril Ramaphosa Might Resign AS ANC Support Declines

Former Jacob Zuma might be somewhere smiling right now after it emerged that embattled South African president Cyril Rampahosa might resign over what has been dubbed Farmgate. Zuma had lost his position over corruption allegations, paving the way for Ramaphosa to ascend to the “throne.” Now Comrade Cyril is facing the same troubles.

Ramaphosa’s troubles started after police chief Arthur Fraser, a notable Zuma loyalist, was made to step down. The spy had theater opened a can of worms, revealing that a robbery had taken place in the president’s Phala Phala farm and millions of dollars hidden in mattresses gone in the heist.

Fraser had accused President Ramaphosa of corruption, money laundering, and other crimes. He insisted the President failed to inform the police authorities of the crime at the farm as mandated by law. Earlier in his defense, the president had claimed that the discovered funds were proceeds from livestock sales.

South Africans didn’t buy it then. And they are also not buying it now that a probe headed by a retired chief judge had submitted its report. It is especially bad because, according to multiple reports, he had lost the support of the ruling African National Congress.

Many are saying he will resign.

But will he?
