Phila Madlingozi Dropped From “Gqeberha: The Empire” Over Mediocre Acting

It is one thing when you have a contractual disagreement with producers on a flick and a different ball game when they are exasperated with what they call your “poor” acting skills. The second case is pretty embarrassing. Sadly, that has been the fate of Phila Madlingozi.

Phila is one of the characters in “Gqeberha: The Empire,” a popular telenovela in South Africa. He stands criticised for his alleged “diva tendencies” and “lacklustre” acting. Unable to take it anymore, the producers had reportedly let him go.

The actor himself appeared indifferent to the whole drama. He confirmed his exit from the series while also noting that he is focused on shooting a show for Showmax. The details of the show have not been given yet, as the actor is probably still working things out.

His exit, though, provoked missed reactions online, with some viewers agreeing about his quirks, as well as supporting the decision to have him axed from the telenovela. Some viewers thought the issue was blown out of proportion, however.

Either way, Phila Madlingozi is out and has his eyes peeled for other adventures in the worlds of film and broadcasting. We will be here to bring you more details on his next move, so tag along.
