Pioneer US TV Journalist Barbara Walters Dead At 93

It has often been said that in life we are in death. And that death can manifest at any time. For American journalist Barbara Walters, death came at the ripe old age of 93. ABC News, the media house with which she has been associated for most of her career, announced her passing.

According to the announcement, she died at her home in New York. However, the cause of her death was not given at the time of writing.

Since the news of her passing broke, it has been raining condolences and memorialization, with those who knew her sharing their thoughts on her person and what her death means for the industry.

Robert Iger of the Walt Disney Company described her as a pioneer not just for women in journalism but for journalism itself – a true legend.

He has a point, perhaps. Walters is, after all, one of the most accomplished television journalists of all time. She had interviewed some of the most important world figures at some point, from Fidel Castro of Cuba to Magaret Thatcher of the United Kingdom, down to Saddam Hussein of Iraq and Muammar Gaddafi of Libya.

She herself acknowledged this accomplishment in an interview in 2004, when she noted that she had met more heads of state than any president
