Primo Baloyi & Robot Boii Celebrate Headlining BAL Special Olympic Celebrity Game

They are not known as basketballers, but South Africa’s Robot Boii and Primo Baloyi did something special as they headlined the BAL Special Olympic Celebrity Game.

Celebrity games are nothing new – certainly not in South Africa, where they occur sporadically. But the recent one had a lot of attention, in part because of the calibre of people that were part of it.

Sunday after saw the Special Olympics of South Africa (SOSA) and Basketball Africa League (BAL) collaborate in a celebrity game that brought together SOSA athletes, supporters, ambassadors, and other stakeholders.

The game was held at SunBet Arena in Pretoria and saw Lucas Baloyi’s son Primo Baloyi, joining the musician Robot Boii as the headlier of the event. Both were grateful to have been picked for the roles in the game.

This much was obvious from what they said after it all. In particular, Robot Boii pointed out that it was like his first professional experience of basketball. He was also thankful to the organisers for having had him as part of it. The energy was amazing.

On his part, Primo pointed out that his father is an ambassador of Special Olympics. For him, Primo, it was “amazing” to have played alongside an NBA legend.
