Days ago, former United States President Barack Obama shared a list of his favourite songs of 2020. According to him, he had drawn up the list in collaboration with his daughter Shasha, the family’s “music guru.”
That list has South Africa’s Prince Kaybee’s song “Uwrongo” somewhere in the middle. The song featured Shimza, Black Motion and Ami Faku.
Prince Kaybee and his pals are the only South Africans who made the list.
Prince Kaybee shared Obama’s list with his Instagram followers, tagging those who featured with him on the song. According to Prince Kaybee, it made his year – Obama’s adoption of his song “Uwrongo” as among the best for 2020.
Prince Kaybee is one of South Africa’s better known disc jockeys and producers. From life in the streets he has emerged as one of the important voices in South African music.
“Uwrongo” is but one of several popular numbers from his kitty. Others that might interest you include “Club Controller” and “Fetch your Life.”
Incidentally, Prince Kaybee’s “Uwrongo” song had earlier been adopted by Time Magazine as among the top songs of 2020.
