The Zulu ation has got a new king in Prince Misuzulu Zulu, the oldest surviving son of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, who died from diabetes complications recently.
Misuzulu Zulu’s mother Shiyiwe Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu, the third wife of the late king, had named him successor to the Zulu throne. Shiyiwe was regent until her death at 65 on April 30.
A little drama played out at the palace when the Shiyiwe’s will nominating Misuzulu Zulu as king was read out by the advocate Griffiths Madonsela. The new king’s brother Prince Thokozani had stood up to express an opinion but was shouted down by the family.
While there might have been some internal wrangling and not everyone from the royal family is welcoming of the Misuzulu Zulu’s crowning as the new king of 11 million Zulus, most entertainers in Mzansi have already accepted the outcome and have been voicing their congratulations to the new king.
So far, among those who have celebrated the crowning of the new king are Sjava, Unjoko, Mnqobi Yazo, and DJ Bongz. Below are some of the messages acknowledging the new king.
