Quinto De Kock Retires From Test Cricket

South African cricket experienced what many consider a big loss after Quinton de Kock announced his retirement from Test cricket.

The wicketkeeper-batsman announced his retirement just hours after the South African team was beaten in the first Test against India at SuperSport Park in Centurion, South Africa.

The announcement came as a shock to may across the cricket universe who had not seen it coming. But the 29-year-old assures that it wasn’t a decision he took on the spur of the moment.

It was actually a decision he’d debated within himself for a long time but have only just implemented. While he loves Test cricket greatly, his love for his family is way stronger, and he would like to focus on his family, which is first in his priorities.

He noted that his spouse Sasha is about the welcome their first child, and they look forward to not only welcoming the child but growing their family as well. Cricket wouldn’t give him the time and space to focus on family, so he’d rather ditch the sport to focus on what counts the most for him.

He thanked those who have been a part of his cricket journey from the beginning, his coaches, teammates, and others.
