Radio Host Marietjie “Intombi Yomzulu” Bothma Dead 39

It was the end of an era for Marietjie “Intombi Yomzulu” Bothma, South African comedian and radio broadcaster, as she died after a long illness. It was a sad end to a life many have become fond of and look forward to. She was 39.

She had reportedly left her home in Thembisa to see a friend elsewhere. She was supposedly in Thabang Mochela’s home to “rest.” Sadly, it was the last time the two friends would be together.

It was a big shock to many of her fans and to the presenting community when Sauma HD Radio, the station where Bothma thrilled many with her quick wit and alert intelligence, issued a statement announcing her death.

In its statement, the station noted in part, It is with sadness that we announce that one of our radio family presenters, Marietjie Bothma, passed on today May 29. Since the news of her death broke, many have been recalling their best memories of her as a host and what her death means to the radio industry.

Some noted on social media that they would miss the life she brought to every show featuring her. Details of her funeral will be announced shortly. Stay tuned.
