Ramaphosa Restates Support For New Zulu Leader, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini

We have moved from Palace intrigues to recognition for the new Zulu leader, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, with South African president Cyril Ramaphosa formally pledging his support.

The president pledged his support to the Zulu leader over the weekend during the certificate handover ceremony at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban. Also present at the ceremony were former presidents Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma, as well as high-ranking government officials.

Before the formal recognition of the current king, there were Palace intrigues, with some royals challenging the will that placed the current king as the successor to the throne.

President Ramaphosa had gone ahead to endorse the new King after a court affirmed the will written by the current king’s father.

While speaking at the ceremony, President Ramaphosa had noted that he was there to commit to working with the new King to change the lives of the people and transform rural areas into centres of development and prosperity.
