Rashid Kay Explains Why Burna Boy Isn’t The ‘Greatest Artist In Africa’

South African rapper, Rashid Kay does not think that Burna Boy winning the Grammy will make him Africa’s greatest artiste.

Burna Boy has without doubt been one of Africa’s biggest names in recent years, winning awards and getting recognitions. One of such recognitions is the nomination for a Grammy award. A fan recently tweeted that if he wins the Grammy, it would make him the greatest artiste to come from the continent, behind Fela and Wizkid.

The fan’s tweet read:

So burna boy stands a very huge chance to win the Grammy?? 5 years ago the African giant wasn’t even rated above patoranking…. If buurnaboy wins this award . He would be the greatest African artiste ever just behind fela and wizkid.

Rashid Kay disagreed though and while he did not state it expressly, he did ask if a Grammy award was what it took to name Africa’s greatest artiste even as he reminded the fan that South Africa had 6 Grammys.

Mduduzi Khumalo popularly known by his stage name Rashid Kay is a South African rapper, television producer, DJ, radio personality and Hip hop activist.

The relationship between Burna Boy and South African music fans has been somewhat cold since the altercation that happened during the xenophobia issue that happened last year, so it is understandable that most are not pumped about him winning the prestigious award.
