Rashid Kay Shares His Thoughts On Reason And Cassper’s Transitions To Amapiano

Rashid Kay has shared hit thoughts on Reason and Cassper Nyovest’s transitions to Amapiano.

For some reason, SA Hip Hop fans still have a problem with rappers doing Amapiano. It has been a topic that never gets old. A few years back when Cassper Nyovest first jumped on the sound, he was heavily criticized for doing it. As the years have passed, more Hip Hop artists have joined the Piano campaign.

That includes one of his biggest critics, Reason who recently changed his name to drop Piano music. Speaking on the Masterclass Podcast, Rashid Kay compared Reason’s switch to Cassper’s. In his opinion, he isn’t capitalizing his brand as Reason. Instead, the rapper is starting afresh as a new artist, Sizwe Alakine.

He also shared that Cass’ switch may not be ok, but it doesn’t affect the culture. He also did it as a brand. This means that the people are not following the music, but Cassper.

Reason is not capitalizing his brand as Reason, to move his Reason fans to Amapiano, he is starting afresh as a new artist, that’s why you saw Reason being co-signed by Killer Kau because its not Reason; its a new artist. Even though Reason is older than Killer Kau, he’s being co-signed by a n**ga who is younger than him because he is new to this sh**t. He is not new in the music industry, but he is new to the Yanos,”

“It doesn’t makes it OK but it doesn’t affect the culture. Now when you have Casper Nyovest on the Yanos, now you are using your brand to bring Hip hop and Mostwako fans to the whatever sh** you are doing now, so you are capitalzing on your brand. So people are not following the music, but they are following Casper as a brand,”
