After an initial launch which was greeted with controversy and threats of legal action, the South African Amapiano Music Awards is set to take off finally, and the award body has dropped lists of those who’ll be hosting the event.
According to award organizers, Robot Boii, Moshe Ndiki and Zola Ayabulela Mhlongo will be the main hosts of the event which is billed to hold at the Sandton Convention Centre on October 23.
One of the hosts, Zola Ayabulela Mhlongo, is heavily pregnant, so, in a sense, she’ll be hosting guests along with her baby
Zanele Potelwa will host the red carpet event.
For the event, the award organizers have co-opted some key figures in amapiano music to perform. They include Daliwonga, Focalistic, Nia Pearl, and Pabi Cooper.
The South African Amapiano Music Awards will be given in fifteen categories, including Best Amapiano Lyricist, Best Amapiano Female DJ/Act, Best Amapiano Street Dancer, Best Amapiano Live Vocal Performance, and Amapiano Artist Of The Year.
The nominees’ list was released months back and provoked controversy, with industry figures questioning the list and others wanting to know who were behind the award.
