Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne claims she cannot pay her whopping tax bill.
In a court filing dated Tuesday, June 14, Erika Jayne claimed she couldn’t pay her taxes. According to Jayne, her business manager received a notice last month stating that she owes $2,226,985.77 in taxes to California.
A report by US Weekly states that they have been piled on from 2011, 2012, and 2013. In the court filing, she said she was unsure if the tax board was “claiming any sort of lien” on her assets. This includes her $750,000 diamond earrings. In the filing, Jayne wrote,
“I am in the midst of trying to figure out the basis of this tax bill with the assistance of my business manager, who is also an accountant. I do not have the ability to pay the [California Franchise Tax Board] tax bill.”
The reality star met her ex-husband, Tom Girardi, while she was waitressing at Chasen’s, one of the most popular West Hollywood spots in the 1990s. The duo got engaged later and married in 1999. In a statement to US Weekly, Jayne confirmed that she and Tom had parted ways.
A month later, the couple were accused of embezzling $2 million in settlement funds designated for the families of Lion Air Flight 610 victims. There were allegations that Tom purchased her diamond earrings with embezzled funds prompting an order for her to turn them over to a trustee.
