The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released its grant payment schedule for the first quarter of 2024, ensuring continued support to millions of disadvantaged South Africans. January 2024 Payment Dates

SASSA has confirmed the payment dates for January 2024, with more than 25 million people expected to receive their social grants. The schedule is as follows:

  • Older Persons/Pensioners Grant: Wednesday, 3 January
  • Disability Grant: Thursday, 4 January
  • All other Grants: Friday, 5 January

These grants play a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable individuals and families, helping them afford basic goods and services.

February and March 2024 Schedules

The payment dates for February and March 2024 are also set, ensuring beneficiaries can plan accordingly:

  • February 2024: Older Persons/Pensioners Grant on 2 February, Disability Grant on 5 February, and all other Grants on 6 February.
  • March 2024: Older Persons/Pensioners Grant on 5 March, Disability Grant on 6 March, and all other Grants on 7 March.

Types of SASSA Grants and Amounts

SASSA provides various grants, including the SRD (Social Relief Distress) Grant, Child Support Grant, Disability Grant, and Pensioners Grant. The SRD Grant, aimed at citizens, asylum seekers, refugees, and special permit holders between 18 and 60 years old, is set at R350 per month. The Child Support Grant offers R500 per month for each child, with an additional R250 for orphaned children. The maximum payout for a Disability Grant is R2,080 per month, while Pensioners aged 60 to 75 receive R2,080, increasing to R2,100 for those older than 75.

Collecting SASSA Grants

Beneficiaries can collect their grants through bank accounts, retail outlets, mobile cash pay points, and SASSA Gold Cards. SASSA advises beneficiaries not to rush withdrawals on the first available day, as the money remains in their accounts until needed.
