Here are the increased SASSA Grants for April 2024.
While 2024 has been challenging for most of us, Mzansi can look forward to grant increases that will reportedly take effect next month. Speaking at the budget speech last month on the 21, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana revealed various SASSA grants that will take effect next month.
The South African reports that the “SASSA Grant increases in 2024 will amount to an extra R90, with another R10K hike coming later in October this year.” This means that SASSA Old-Age Pensions will pay R2 180 for anyone between 60 and 74. It will also pay R2 200 for anyone over 75 years.
The publication further reports that the grant increases are not only for older persons. “The Foster Care Grant will see a boost of R50, while Child Support Grants increase by R20.” Both will also take effect in April 2024. There will also be increases in War Veterans, Disability, and Care Dependency Grants by R90 next month and another R10 in October.
The War Veterans, Disability, and Care Dependency Grants will reportedly take effect on the following dates: Wednesday, 3 April 2024 / Friday, 3 May 2024 / Monday, 3 June 2024 / Tuesday, 2 July 2024 / Friday, 2 August 2024, and Tuesday, 3 September 2024. Beneficiaries are also reminded that grants may take 2-3 days to reflect in their bank account.
